Ms. Reiko Hayashi Appointed as New FinCity.Tokyo Ambassador

The Organization of Global Financial City Tokyo (FinCity.Tokyo) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Reiko Hayashi as our new Ambassador. Ms. Hayashi currently serves as Senior Advisor, International Capital Market Association (ICMA) and Director General, Japan National Committee for UN Women.

After graduating from the Graduate School of the University of Tokyo, Ms. Hayashi has consistently engaged in international finance and capital markets operations at foreign financial institutions, leading major domestic and international fundraisings and strategic advisory projects over many years.

During her 26-year tenure at BofA Securities Co., Ltd., a major U.S. investment bank, she held prominent positions including Head of Global Capital Markets and Representative Director and Deputy President. While working at the forefront of the business world, she has also served as a member of the government’s “GX (Green Transformation) Implementation Council” and the “Expert Panel on Sustainable Finance,” as well as a board member of the International Capital Market Association (ICMA). She is a leading figure who has driven the promotion and adoption of ESG and sustainable finance in Japan’s capital markets.

Ahead of her appointment, Ms. Hayashi participated in an interview with Reuters Plus. In the interview, she shares deep insights from a global capital markets perspective on the progress of Green Transformation (GX) and transition finance in Japan, as well as the potential of resilience finance.
